Wednesday March 24, 2010 my wife and I went to see Black Rebel Motorcycle club at The High Noon Saloon. While I usually enjoy going to HNS, when it is this packed it can be annoying. Luckily we were able to get a good spot up front, just far enough back to hear the vocals clearly.
Opening was a band from the UK called Band of Skulls. They are a three piece that plays bluesy music. My best description would be a cross between the White Stripes and Kings of Leon. Probably the best feature of theirs was the vocals. Otherwise I found them to be rather meh.
Next up Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I had not heard the new album before the show so I wasn’t sure what to expect. As always, they put on a great show. They played a great mix of songs from all the albums. The only album not really touched on was Baby 81, Which is fine with me as it is my least favorite. I was happily surprised with the number of songs that they played off their first album, and also very impressed with the new songs. It was a long set with a good encore to follow. I wish I could have hung out and talked to some people but Renee needed to get to bed.
