Sardonyx is one of the newest additions to the Madison metal scene. The band is comprised of a solid mix of local metal veterans and newer talents. While I can’t wait to get a hold of some recorded material to share on the radio show, I can’t imagine that it will ever be a substitute to seeing them live. Killer riffs mixed with intense playing and a front woman that sells it all with attitude. Only together a short time, Sardonyx has quickly become one of my favorite bands in the area. Take a look and then get out and see them live.
This is a video of Enabler from Milwaukee, WI. It was taken March 24, 2012 at the Dragonfly Lounge in Madison, WI. Their latest LP “All Hail the Void” is available via Southern Lord or Vinyl via Halo of Flies. They have also recently released a 7 inch “Shift of Redemption” on Think Fast Records. Enabler has seen a couple recent lineup changes but are back on the road tearing it up. Enjoy the video from a dark room and go check them out if they are in your area.
Beast in the Field is some exemplary doom on record, but catch them live for the full body pummeling. It’s amazing that the walls of Quarters Rock and Roll Palace didn’t crumble under the weight of the and volume of the riffs. If they come to your town there are only two places you should logically be. At the show, or hiding in a church.
Just an idea of how loud it was in the club. This is the first time I’ve had the volume of a band destroy the mic on my phone like this. Even Jucifer didn’t mess with my camera this much.
Here is the interview I did on April 30, 2012 with Agnosis. Posted after the interview you will find the playlist for April 30, 2012 as well.

Here is a video from Droids Attack‘s first show with Dennis on bass. As always, Droids brings a bag full of riffs. It makes my ears happy.
I said I owed you all a full song from The Garza. Here it is. This is one of the best new bands around. Get out and see them if you have the opportunity. I am also very happy to announce that they are going to be playing Bachfest this year.
Zath is a three piece thrash band from Chicago, IL. They played at the Nottingham Co-op on March 7, 2012 with Panther and Mutilation Rites. Before the show all I had heard or seen was a video online. I must say that I am really impressed. Glad I got out on a weeknight to catch this show. I will be scouring the club listings and Facebook listings carefully looking for my next opportunity to see these guys play again.
If you are a fan of straight up thrash you need to check out Zath. Rumor is that there is a 7″ in the works. I’ll be sure to give a little review when that comes out as I am anxiously waiting for anymore news on it. Until then, check out this video I took.
