Sardonyx is one of the newest additions to the Madison metal scene. The band is comprised of a solid mix of local metal veterans and newer talents. While I can’t wait to get a hold of some recorded material to share on the radio show, I can’t imagine that it will ever be a substitute to seeing them live. Killer riffs mixed with intense playing and a front woman that sells it all with attitude. Only together a short time, Sardonyx has quickly become one of my favorite bands in the area. Take a look and then get out and see them live.
Here is a video from Droids Attack‘s first show with Dennis on bass. As always, Droids brings a bag full of riffs. It makes my ears happy.
I said I owed you all a full song from The Garza. Here it is. This is one of the best new bands around. Get out and see them if you have the opportunity. I am also very happy to announce that they are going to be playing Bachfest this year.
These are videos from The Antiprism’s last show. It’s too bad, I really enjoyed their music and I think they have a lot of potential. Not to worry, the members will continue on in new projects. I will be sure to bring you updates and videos when they come up. Until then, put on your cape and enjoy these videos.
The sound is a little off because of the volume in the club (I’m not complaining), but the video is still good and really, the vocals are the only thing that are distorted.
Another couple videos from the first night of the Local Love Fest in Madison, WI. Local Love Fest was organized by Brad Van of Droids Attack. Brad organizes a group of bands local to Madison, WI. They each record a cover song from another Madison area band. The result is an excellent compilation CD of local bands showing respect to current and retired musicians. There is also a weekend of shows to go along with it. Any band playing in the festival must play at least 5 cover songs from local artists. In my book, this is an amazing idea, and I can’t wait to see what year 3 brings.
This was an extra special set for Droids Attack. It was their last show with bassist Nate Bush. The split is amicable, both parties support each other’s future en devours. That being said, this was another stellar performance by Droids. I recorded their first two songs, which happen to be covers. Then I sat back and enjoyed a celebration of old and new Droids Attack songs. Thanks again Nate for being part of a great local band. I wish you all well in the future and will continue following the music you all make.
Now how about some live music.
Here is a video from Helliphant. This was taken at night one of the Local Love Fest. The whole show was outstanding. I’ll explain more about the LLF in my next post. For now, enjoy this video and if you like Helliphant, check out this video that I posted awhile back.
Here is a short clip of The Garza at the Wisco on February 3, 2012. I didn’t think the video would turn out due to lack of light. I guess I was wrong, the sound was really pretty decent. This is a killer new band from Madison, WI. This was their first time playing as a three piece. Can’t wait to see them play again. Next time I’ll get some more video to share as well.
